LUZ, AT THE GATEWAY TO THE PYRENEES NATIONAL PARK
Spectacular and well-preserved landscapes
Just a few kilometres from the village, enter the heart of the Pyrenees National Park, a protected area with a rich diversity of natural, cultural and landscape sites, home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, with many endemic and emblematic species. Discover these jewels on a number of hiking trails: the Cirque of Gavarnie with the Plateau de Bellevue and the Brèche de Roland, the Cirque of Estaube with the Gloriettes lake, the Cirque of Troumouse, the Valley of Ossoue, the Cauterets-Pont d’Espagne site…

THE NEOUVIELLE NATURE RESERVE
Hikes by the water…
This reserve, which protects the granite massif of Neouvielle (‘old snow’ in Gascon), is remarkable for its many lakes and the diversity of its sumptuous azure and turquoise landscapes. Just a few kilometres from Luz-Saint-Sauveur, leave your car on the Lienz plateau or at the foot of the Grand-Tourmalet ski resort and set off on a hike to Lake of Glere (guarded refuge), the Lake Dets Coubous or the Aygues Cluses valley (guarded refuge), at the gateways to the reserve.
Before setting off on your hike, we recommend that you bring along an IGN map or a topoguide, available at the village shops.
